ROLE
Role- As a technical art lead I oversaw different aspect of the project in term of art and art implementation, included coordinating with the team, communicating client's art requirement with the team, UI production art, guiding 3d team on level composition, research and finalising lighting approaches which was suitable for the ambiance of the game, handling a few key visual effects, Shader optimization, working with game designers to finalising the levels to balance visual and gameplay element, co-ordinating with programmers for assets integration. and game optimisation to improve game performance on targeted platforms.
LEARNINGS
Apocalypse Hero: Tower Defense presented another challenge where in-depth research into the art pipeline was essential, given that a significant portion of the environment assets and characters were provided by the client. The major challenge was seamlessly matching new props and level terrain art styles with the original artwork.
We addressed this challenge by implementing the vertex color paint method, enabling us to reduce overall texture sizes and light map data. Remarkably, the entire game was developed without relying on traditional lighting methods; instead, we incorporated all the required light information directly onto the models. Additionally, we employed a variety of custom-made shaders optimized for mobile platforms, resulting in a visually stunning game.
